As part of our Final Frontier topic the children in Class 6G were challenged to design and build a space buggy that would fulfil certain criteria. The buggy had to be able to transport two lego men and their supplies (represented by a funsize chocolate bar) a distance of at least 3 metres. It also had to incorporate an electrical circuit which could be used as a source of power for a motor or for a lighting system. After carrying out some research to find out about real space buggies, they used saws and cutting blocks to create a strong chassis and then attached axles and wheels. Some of the children chose to use motors to power their vehicles and others chose to propel them with elastic bands.
