House Captains

Meet our house captains:

Every child in year 6 has an opportunity to be a house captain.  The house captains hold an important role at Roselands where they promote our school ethos and values in a range of ways.

As well as being a role model to younger children and leading their house in different competitions, they also choose a charity to support throughout the year. These charities are often personal to the captains or to children in their house. The house captains make contact with the charity and hold their own house day in school to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity.

This year, our house captains have chosen the following charities:

Goodrington (green) house - Rowcroft Hospice

Hollicombe (red) house - MND (motor neurone disease)

Broadsands (blue) house - Trussel Food Bank

Elberry (yellow) house - NSPCA

Goodrington House Day

For Goodrington house day, the children took part in a Rudolph run and mufti day as part of our Christmas day at Roselands Primary School.  The kind donations raised over £2700 towards Rowcroft Hospice.  Well done to Ella and Max for all of their organising.

Hollicombe House Day

A huge well done to our house captains (Lacey and Caleb) and our amazing families for raising over £1300 for MND Association, which raises awareness and money for motor neurone disease.  The children wore red for Hollicombe house, guessed the amount of sweets in a jar, had a sponsored silence and all ran 2 miles each (distance to Scotland).

In 2020-21, our houses raised the following amount of money for their chosen charities:

Goodrington house - RNLI Torbay (£588)

Hollicombe house - Blue Cross (£502)

Broadsands house - NHS (£293)

Elberry house - Dementia UK (£304)
