Wider opportunities

Pupils are offered rich and varied opportunities throughout their time at Roselands. These wider opportunities support personal development and provide rich learning experiences that enhance the curriculum. These are some of the many opportunities offered to our pupils:

  • ‘Riviera 70’ - 10 things every child should experience each year 
  • Sports events e.g. Paignton football league, school sports partnership
  • Clubs: https://www.roselandsprimary.org.uk/school-clubs/ 
  • Activities week (Y6) residential (Y5) at Great Potheridge House, (Y3/4) life skills, (Y2) swimming and (R/Y1) forest school
  • Community links e.g. Time Out Cafe
  • Visitors into school and visits out of school
  • Opportunities to work on extended projects with experts in their field e.g. Talking Turns
  • Performances - Performing Arts; in-school music and drama performances; Young Voices
  • Music events eg BSO
  • Celebrating key British events e.g. Queen’s jubilee, King’s coronation
  • Careers development

As a school and Trust, we have come up with 70 things we believe all children should and will experience whilst at our school.  This is called Riviera 70.  We want to ensure that our children have as many opportunities as possible whilst at our school.  As well as taking advantage of the wonderful school grounds that we have, we want to ensure that the children enjoy the local community that we live in and get a range of opportunities - to ensure that there is something for everyone.  Have a look at the poster below to see what experiences your child will get whilst at Roselands:
